West Indies historic victory against Australia after 27 years

BRISBANE: West Indies beat Australia in a Test match after 27 years on their home soil to claim a historic victory. The visiting team has beaten the Kangaroos on home soil since 1997, while the West Indies have won a Test match against Australia since 2001.

Australia had to achieve a target of 216 runs to win the match, but due to the incredible bowling of West Indian bowler Shamar Joseph, the Australian team could not hold on to the wicket and the entire team was bowled out by scoring 207 runs.

Shamar Joseph bowled the best of his career in the second innings, taking 7 wickets for 68 runs in 11.5 overs. He was awarded the Man of the Match and Test Series award.

The West Indian fast bowler continued to bowl with an injured big toe in the second innings.

In the first innings of the Test, the West Indies team was bowled out for 311 runs, in response to which the Australian team declared 289 runs for the loss of 9 players. Despite gaining a lead of 22 runs, West Indies returned to the pavilion on 193 runs and could set the opposition team a target of 216 runs, but the host team failed to achieve the target and collapsed for 207 runs on the fourth day of the Test.

The two-match series between Australia and West Indies was tied at one apiece. The three-match ODI series between the two teams will begin from February 2, while the three-match T20 series will begin from February 9.
