11-Member Committee Formed to Deal with Corona variant ''JN One''


 Sindh health department has formed an 11-member provincial task force to deal with the pandemic after  confirmation  Corona “JN1” directly to 2 additional passengers arriving from abroad at  Karachi Airport.

 According to 'Dawn News', the Sindh Health Department formed a task force  soon after cases of the new JN1 variant  of Corona came to light.

 An 11-member task force will work under the chairmanship of Dr. Waqar Mehmood of the Sindh Health Department, the task force will include experts from the health sector.

 The 11-member task force will report daily to the  Health Minister Sindh and prepare an emergency action plan to deal with  coronavirus and prepare a formal action plan  to contain the pandemic.

 It is worth noting that live Corona 'JN1'  was confirmed in 2 other passengers arriving from abroad this morning, while 4 passengers' Rapid Antigen PCR (RIT)  tests submitted yesterday also came back positive. Officials  said  of the 7 positive cases of the JN1 variant of Corona, 2 were overseas while 5 were local, while the affected passengers were notified about testing and are strictly required to quarantine at home.

 It is worth noting that the "JN1" virus was confirmed in 2 passengers  from abroad who arrived at  Karachi airport last week, 2 of the 6 passengers sent for testing reported a new type of coronavirus.

 It may be recalled that  the Islamabad Healthcare Regulatory Authority (IHRA) had earlier issued an advisory on preventing the new variant of coronavirus 'JN1' in Pakistan.

 People should wash their hands regularly and thoroughly with soap and water, and use hand sanitizer when soap and water are not available, the notification stated.

 In the opinion of the IHRA, people should cover their mouth and nose with their elbow when sneezing or coughing, sick people should stay  home, rest and avoid crowds, and should observe social distancing measures until the situation is normal.In addition, people are instructed to avoid going to crowded places.

 It should be noted that in recent weeks,  suspected cases of new corona infection have been diagnosed in the country. Furthermore, following the increase in corona cases in many countries, passenger screening  has also  started at all airports in Pakistan.
