The Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed a negative trend
during early trading today, with the benchmark SE-100 index falling 531 points
to below 64,000.
According to the PSX website, the KSE-100 index lost 531
points or 0.83 percent to 63,737, which closed at 64,269 points yesterday.
It may be noted that Pakistan Stock Exchange had a positive
start to business yesterday, which could not be sustained and the benchmark
SE-100 index recorded a decline of 368 points.
It should be noted that last year 2023 proved to be a good
year for Pakistan Stock Exchange, which started and ended on a positive trend.
On Monday, January 2, 2023, the SE-100 index was at 40,420
points, which had risen by 395.45 points to 40,815 by the close of business.
On the last trading day of 2023, the index closed at 62,451,
thereby increasing the benchmark SE-100 index by 22,31 points or 54.50% over
the previous year.
While 2022 turned out to be a stressful year for the
Pakistan Stock Exchange, the benchmark KSE-100 index closed at 40,420 points
after a 9.4 percent decline compared to 2021.
