Will Identification Strategy Of PTI Candidate Work on Polling Day?
After the Supreme Court annulled the intra-party election of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), former Prime Minister Imran Khan's party has lost its election symbol 'bat', due to which the Participating candidates are facing difficulties.
The candidates of PTI now have hundreds of election symbols,
on the day of voting, the voters of this party will not only have to remember
the names of their favorite candidates but also their election symbols.
It should be remembered that after the Supreme Court's
decision to withdraw PTI's election symbol, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf leader
Barrister Gohar had said that PTI's candidates will contest the election as an
independent.
He had said that we will make a new list of our candidates
and conduct a campaign, we will bring our candidates forward with election
symbols.
After the election symbol of 'bat' was taken away, PTI has devised a new strategy to inform its voters about the identity of its candidates.
PTI candidates have colored their election symbols in the color of the party flag. For example, in some places Charpai is displayed in green and red colors, while in some places Tea Pot and Bottle are seen in these two colors.
Despite adopting this new strategy, PTI candidates are
facing difficulties.
PTI leader Atif Khan told BBC from an undisclosed location that 'I have received the sickle mark for the election of the National Assembly and also another candidate of the Provincial Assembly in my constituency who is opposed to our candidate. The sign of the sickle is given. He further said that most of the people in rural areas are not literate, they want to vote for PTI but they cannot read the candidate's name on the ballot paper.
Atif Khan admitted that voters, especially in rural areas, would face difficulties in identifying PTI candidates due to the absence of an election symbol. The ballot paper is not colored and the polling station has white and black ballot paper. Therefore, the voters have to be explained how to vote.
Atif Khan further said that for the convenience of the
voters, a list will be issued by PTI which will include the names of all the
candidates and their election symbols.
